Troubleshooting
Find what you see on screen, then the fix.
- The WordPress plugin is not connected
- Search Console shows First reading pending
- Bing Webmaster Tools does not accept the key
- A measurement failed
The WordPress plugin is not connected
- In WordPress, check under Plugins that the Goppa plugin is installed and active.
- Open Goppa in the admin menu and click Connect to Goppa. Sign in with the Goppa account that should have this site, and click Connect this site.
- Wait about a minute. The plugin checks with Goppa about 30 seconds after you connect, then once an hour.

| Token rejected by Goppa. Reconnect the store. | The saved token no longer works, for example after the site was removed in Goppa. Clear the Store token field, click Save Changes, then click Connect to Goppa. |
| No Connect to Goppa button | A token is saved. If the site is still not connected, clear the Store token field and save, and the button comes back. |
| The connection request expired or did not match. Click Connect to Goppa again. | Each request works once, for 15 minutes. Start again from the Goppa screen in WordPress. |
| This link is incomplete | Open Goppa in WordPress and click Connect to Goppa again. |
| Your plan allows … sites | The account already uses all its sites. Remove one in Settings → Remove site, or compare plans on the pricing page. Removing a site does not reset your plan's monthly usage, and its AI measurements are kept and still count toward your plan. |
| Plugin addresses answer "page not found" | In WordPress, set Settings → Permalinks to anything other than Plain. |
| Connected, but no pull for hours | The hourly check runs on WordPress scheduled tasks (WP-Cron). If WP-Cron is turned off on your server, make sure a system cron runs it. |
| Update plugin | A newer version exists. Update it under Plugins in WordPress. |
Search Console shows First reading pending
After you connect, the first reading arrives within a few hours. Then Goppa reads Search Console again every week, or every 30 days when your plan reads SEO once a month. Readings run only when your plan includes SEO.
| You see | Fix |

| This Google account has no Search Console property for… | The Google account you chose does not have your site in Search Console, so nothing was connected. Add and verify the site there, or choose another Google account, then click Connect again. |
| Waiting for first sync | You connected or reconnected. Until the next reading, the numbers on screen are from before. |
| Out of date | No new reading for 14 days, or for twice your plan's SEO reading interval when that is longer. It clears with the next reading. |
| Error: access refused | Access was revoked or has expired. Click Reconnect. |
| Error: network | Goppa tries again after 24 hours. If the error stays, click Reconnect. |
Disconnect removes Search Console from this site. Goppa revokes the access at Google only when no other site in your account uses Search Console.
Bing Webmaster Tools does not accept the key
- Open Bing Webmaster Tools and sign in. Add your site, or import it from Search Console.
- Open Settings (the gear), then API access, and click Generate API Key.
- In Goppa, open Settings → Connections, click Connect on the Bing Webmaster Tools row and paste the key.

| Could not connect Bing. Check the key and site verification, then try again. | The key is wrong, or the site is not verified in that Bing account. |
| Error: site not verified | The site is not verified in the Bing account of that key. Verify it in Bing Webmaster Tools, then paste the key with Reconnect. |
| Error: access refused | The key no longer works. Generate a new one and paste it with Reconnect. |
The key belongs to your Bing user and reaches every site verified there. Goppa stores it encrypted and never changes anything in your Bing account. On plans with SEO, Bing is read every week, or every 30 days when your plan reads SEO once a month.
A measurement failed
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Could not measure | No answer came back. Click Measure again. |
| Failed, on one engine | That engine did not answer this time. The other engines count as usual, and Failed is never counted as Not named. |
| No AI Overview | Not an error: Google showed no AI Overview for that search, so nobody was named there. |
| Not comparable | The questions, the engines or the Named rule changed between the two measurements. What changed starts again from the next measurement with the same questions, engines and rule. |
| Measuring | The measurement is running. Results appear in a few minutes. |
| Your free account includes … real AI measurements, and they are used. | The free account includes 3 measurements, one a month. Pick a plan to keep measuring. |
| This plan includes … measurements per month and they are used for this month. | They reset on the 1st. If you need more, write to contact@trygoppa.com. |
