For developers

WordPress plugin

The Goppa plugin is free on WordPress.org. It works on any WordPress site, and on online stores it adds the catalogue features.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.0 or later, and PHP 7.4 or later.
  • No store plugin is required.
  • Permalinks set to anything other than Plain, so the plugin's addresses work.

Install

  1. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for Goppa, or open the plugin page on WordPress.org.
  2. Click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Goppa appears in the admin menu. Without an account, it already counts AI crawler visits on your site, submits changed pages through IndexNow and adds the Content-Signal line to robots.txt.

Connect it to your Goppa account

  1. Open Goppa in the WordPress admin menu and click Connect to Goppa.
  2. Sign in, or create a free account, then click Connect this site.
  3. You come back to WordPress connected. The plugin saves the store token, and the token never appears in a browser address.
  4. In Goppa, Settings → Connections shows the WordPress plugin row as Connected, with its Last pull.

The plugin checks with Goppa about 30 seconds after you connect, then once an hour. You can also paste a token in the Store token field.

The site counts toward your plan's sites. If the plan is full, the connect page says so and nothing is added.

What it does on your site

With no setting at all, the plugin counts visits from AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Without an account the count stays on your server. Once your site is connected, each crawler page visit (the crawler and the page path) and each visit that arrives from a link in an AI answer (the assistant's site and the page path) are also sent to Goppa, for Site activity.

Each setting is a switch on the Goppa screen in WordPress, under Settings. The setting names are written here as the plugin shows them.

SettingWhat it doesDefault
Tell search engines when a page changesSubmits changed page, post and product addresses to Bing and Yandex through IndexNow.On
Tell AI systems they may use this siteAdds Content-Signal: search=yes, ai-input=yes to robots.txt. It never touches ai-train.On

Category guideSaves the guide written in Goppa as a draft post, once. Publishing it is up to you.Off
SEO fixesWrites the SEO fixes you approve in Goppa into Yoast SEO, Rank Math, All in One SEO or SEOPress; without one of them, the plugin serves the SEO title and description itself. Needs a plan with SEO.Off
Removed productsOn a store: a product you move to the trash redirects (301) to its category, and pages not found are counted.Off
Sales an AI assistant took part inOn a store: for an order placed in the same visit that came from an AI assistant, sends the assistant's site, the currency, the total and a one-way code for the order.Off
Orders by channelOn a store: for every order, sends the channel the store recorded on it, the currency, the total and a one-way code, so Goppa can count orders by channel.Off

With your site connected, the plugin checks Goppa once an hour and applies the supported fixes from your latest site check: robots.txt rules for named AI crawlers, the sitemap line in robots.txt and missing product schema fields. Then it reports back what is in effect.

What it never does

  • The automatic fixes never change titles, descriptions, prices or policies you wrote: the plugin refuses them, even if the service asks.
  • Your SEO title and meta description change only through SEO fixes you approve in Goppa. Empty fields are filled. Text you wrote is replaced only where you approved that replacement and the field still holds the same text, and undo puts it back. Image alt text and category descriptions are only filled when empty.
  • The plugin pulls from Goppa, and Goppa never pushes. No authenticated route is opened on your WordPress.
  • It does not process carts, checkout or payments.

Undo, disconnect, remove

YouWhat happens
Undo a fix in GoppaThe plugin removes only what Goppa wrote and you did not edit afterwards. For an approved replacement, your previous text comes back. It needs SEO fixes turned on.
Turn a setting offThe plugin stops doing it. For Removed products, every redirect stops at once.
Clear the Store tokenReports to Goppa stop, and the plugin stops checking Goppa for fixes.
Remove the site in GoppaGoppa stops accepting the site's token. The plugin stops applying Goppa's fixes and shows Token rejected by Goppa. Reconnect the store.
Deactivate the pluginEverything it serves stops, and its scheduled tasks are removed.
Delete the pluginIts settings and its own data are removed. Text written into your SEO plugin's fields stays: it is yours.
